Just today I decided to make a list of all the animals that I know that are up for adoption. There are way too many! There are enough animals in shelters for adoption! If people would just spay and neuter their animals we would reduce the problem if only by a small fraction! Anyways I made this thread to see what horse that you would adopt if you were looking for a horse. Here are all the horses that I know that are up for adoption.(excluding the horse rescue facilities there's too many)

Love- 4 year old Quarter Horse mare. She is a color that almost makes her look like a grulla. She has a nice white star and has been under saddle for a year. She is safe on the trails and is very affectionate hence her name. They are selling her because she has Moon Blindness and they aren't keeping a horse that can't pull her own weight. Sad She would make a great companion.

Carbon- 19? year old gelding. He is a mixed breed gelding that has never been trained to be ridden. He has mediocre ground manners and is a pretty fleabitten grey. They are downsizing their farm due to lack of hay supply.

Rusty- 16 year old chestnut Quarter Horse gelding. Rusty has been ridden english and western for most of his life. He greatly enjoys human companionship and loves to be ridden. If you ask him if he wants to go riding his ears perk up. Rusty was born blind in one eye. This last year his other eye went blind too due to Moon Blindness. He still is a gorgeous and affectionate horse whose owner can not supply him with a grassy paddock. He would run into the electric fencing and hurt himself. Sad

Trick- 6? year old pony gelding. Trick is a cutie. He has never been broke to ride but his ground manners are alright.Trick is blind in one eye and his eye is to be honest a disgusting sight that needs to be surgically removed. Most people won't adopt him because of that. He doesn't have any other health problems and is very affectionate. Loves to have his head stroked. They are downsizing the farm due to lack of hay supply.Very Happy

Gypsy- 3 year old mare. Gypsy is a Quarter Horse mare. She has delicate features and is probably one of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen. She is a black bay with a white star. Gypsy has excellent ground manners and is an english jumping prospect. They are downsizing the farm due to lack of hay supply.

Hercules- 3 year old gelding. He is a nice gelding that just needs some time on him. He isn't broken and is atill a bit spooky. Hercules is fun to work with and very playful. He has had troubles in the past with a belly button hernia but after surgery he hasn't seen further difficulty.

Magnum- 6 year old chestnut Thoroughbred crossbred gelding. Magnum is very tall almost 17 hands. He has been ridden before but due to an accident he was sold several years ago.Magnum loves attention and with a bit more training he'll come along.

Sheena- 5 year old chestnut Quarter Horse mare. Sheena is pretty and clever. She is a houdini so you better watch out. When she was just a foal not even weaned yet she cleared a 4 foot fence! She also jumped over a wheelbarrow when she wasn't very old at all.Sheena is very smart and as long as you keep her interested I think she will be easy to break to ride.

Cowboy- 4 year old light bay gelding. Cowboy has a very laid back personality. He doesn't spook and is very submissive towards other horses. He is an accident waiting to happen so to speak. Let's see. First accident: chest kicked open when a foal by a pony. Second accident: ran through an electric fence. Third accident: ran into a truck Fourth Accident: sprayed by a skunk. I love Cowboy to death he will let you do anything to him but he is still an accideent prone horse.

So who would you adopt? Very Happy

I'd pick Sheena.

I learned to ride on QHs but own a TB cross now. Anyways, I'd pick her becuase she seems most capable of doing the type of riding I do. I only jump 2ft 9in at the moment, but I love the jumper types. I love to jump my horse, you can just feel the power in her jump. I know she isn't broke, but for me I believe she would have some great potential. Very Happy
Oh, and btw, I do hunter/jumper.

Of course they all probably have great potential, but you haven't described them to what I look for in my horses.

I'd adopt Rusty and Trick.

I'm not much of a rider and I feel more compelled to help out a horse that needs it versus one that won't have any problems in finding a home because they're younger or have more potential. Same reason I pick up stray cats and dogs that won't find homes because they're not as pretty as the rest of the litter..

American: yeah Sheena does have great potential but so do most of the others. I don't know all of them that well though.
Kat: that's cool. I would probably do the same. Trick and Rusty are so trusting and sweet. I hardly notice Rusty's blind when you're riding him. Smile

I would pick Magnum. I love big TBs, they have such fun personalitys. He sounds like he would be the best suited for what I do (jumpers and eventing) I also enjoy training them, so he would a fun project. If only I had room for anouther horses *sigh* lol
