I did this piece and it has taken me the best parts of 2 days now... Laughing I would like some critique or opinions on this piece if that's ok? After looking at it for 2 days now i can't really tell... Laughing

I was also thinking of opening a custom slot up? But need help on the pricing so that's why the poll is there. Wink

That looks amazing! I love the sky.
The horses proportions look good to me (I hate horse proportions, they're difficult to master), the mane and tail are really nicely done and the colours suit the background (the black isn't very shiny which is very good).
*gets out of art critique mode*
Very Happy I just really love it. Very Happy

I don't noramally do critique, as I suck at art.

But, towards the bottom, where the hooves are, there is light hitting the hooves, right? If it is, why aren't they much lighter then the rest of the horse? Another question is, on the horse's neck, it gets lighter, too. Where is the light comeing from? It looks like the sun is setting, and it's cloudy, too.

I think it's just the lighting issues that got me. But I luff your shading and the background is beautiful.

Thanks Steling, i will take that on board. Very Happy The light on the neck was coming from a spotlight that i had as part of the pic as well but i took it out and forgot to remove the actual highlight on the neck... Laughing

And thanks Fiddle! Very Happy

I agree with Ster, try and picture where you light is coming from when you shade and highlight. From the lights in you pic the shading would probably be upside down since the brightest light is coming from the bottom. Also because the time of day, they would proabably be very subtle. For instance you wouldnt have nearly as much contrast as you currently have on the flank. Also a horses hooves are never really black (unless people have put hoof-black on them for a show) they are usually a dark brownish grey color.

I think the colors complement each other really nicely. Mabey next time you could use more of a blueish black instead of the dark grey you used here and it would inprove even more. Very nice Very Happy
