*shakes head* Maybe it's just me but looking over farms, auctions and sales ads I can see so many people posting a bunch of the same variation of critter for sale, most of those player made and not by themselves. Why can't people release critters? Why does someone need to breed a half a dozen or more of something then turn around and sell them for the next person to do the same? For a quick buck? They're adding to the devalue of those variations.

Mmm, I know what you mean.

I recently tried ( and wasted about 20 breedings ) hoping to get a End/End mongoose. Instead, I am getting the End color and common variation. Most of the time I release the babies, but there was a few I sold because I figured it was a good way to make a small amount of cash to cover the stud fees ( they do add up...).

But, usually, when I breed and get a duplicate of the animal I didn't want, I release, even if it's an AE, rarer End, etc. I don't like selling for some reason even when I know I could make a good profit off the animals.

So, that's...my...opinion? Statement? Whatever, that's what I usually do.

Hmm, I'll vote yes, although I don't ALWAYS release (it does all depend on what it is) But I try to steralize any animal that I sell/auction that is not my creation (and if I don't feel I can trust the next person not to breed).

So I'm kinda inbetween.
I will sometimes breed certain animals (that I have breeding rights to) to try and create some doller if I'm running low. But that isn't very often.

Sooo
Yeah.. Smile

I think you have to remember that most players need money.... and ethics come second to staying afloat.......... But that said, I definitely agree with the question. What is WRONG with respecting the efforts of others by NOT overbreeding?

*sigh*

I only breed to try and get new variations, if it comes out wrong, it gets released. I rarely have auctions because I feel a responsiblily to the creator to try and preserve the rarity of their animal, whether or not I bought the animal with breeding restrictions or not. I also try and go through the market at least once a week and buy and release some of the critters people have overbred. I must have bought 10 shiba Inus, proabably 5 paints, 4 indochineese tigers, all in the last month and I bought and released 4 crabbets yesterday! It's insane! I guess when people are greedy, that's what happens Neutral

Amen, Jinxx. I won't sell anything I didn't create. Period. But just look at my Saddlebreds, my Were Wolves, my Nagas. Clearly others don't have that same respect for another player's creation. I see players that have 10+ of them, sometimes not even with different colours. Even the ones with different colours, do you really need to overbreed my variation just so you can put new overpop colours on them? Use your own XD

HUGZZZZZZZZZZZZZz kholran

I will sell other people's variations... but only if they have been absent for over a month.... (as best I can tell from forum and exams)... or I have been given PERMISSION by the creator... and it is the creator's choice whether the animal is whole or sterile.

I never keep animals I don't want, except for hosting Creators Club auction animals....

it might be because i'm vegatarian and i know these aren't real animals but some how i just can't release them. I'll only release ones that are either rescued and crap. I don't release ones that i breed. I'm currently selling animals for near to nothing even if they buyers release them. It's a strange way i do it and i don't want people to change me cause i can't.

sorry about the wolves though most i have gotten through miss breeds and all but 2 have different colors. i have also only sold one and to date it has not been breed.

i agree and disagree, i some times keep multiples of animals for breeding purposes, like the danes and guppies. tokens cost too much not to keep lines somewhat pure to keep the animals around on sbf.

though i dont normally sell unless i have ALOT of people asking for something, then i do some research on the animal and from there i get the price, and if it will be sold whole to everyone or just certain trusted people. though i must say everything just about is either at 5xNO WAI or getting there

I'm on the fence....I tend to breed to either replace before retirement, or to get new colours/variations....I don't often breed deliberately to sell. The majority of my sales are animals that were accidental breeding mis-matches, or critters I've been given ( with permission to sell ). Where ever possible, in the case of anothers creation, I try to get permission before selling...

I don't LIKE to release for 2 reasons...It seems to make my prestige go down more than selling or retirement does, and in the case of a particularly nice animal, it seems an awful shame to waste it. I would rather sterilize and give away these animals to a player that will get something from them in the form of eventing than to release...

That being said, everyone needs cash and I'm no exception so I do try to get creators permission to auction some of the nicer spares I've got...But even then, I'm careful who gets what...I'd still rather sterilize and donate an animal than sell to a known over-breeder....

I don't know, maybe I'm biased because I've never had so many duplicates of something that I've been forced to release a mass lot of them...I've only ever released in dribs and drabs....

I haven't really answered the point of this, just waffled on abit...Sorry >.<

Guess I am mostly like Vitani. Don't have many dups, so don't usually release. Mostly restrict my breeding to replacements, or trying to get a new color or variation. Occassionaly sell, usually my own creations, although not always.

All that being said, when I started this game, I did not realize what a sensitive issue this is. If I bought something, I thought I had the right to do whatever I wanted with it. Even then, I did not really breed much, but I would assume many people starting the game feel the same way.

So now, when I do sell something, if I care that it is bred, it either goes whole to a trusted player, or sterlized. I never send something to open auction whole. That way, hopefully, the "value" of the critters in maintained.
