I know many players have no way of acquiring the money to buy tokens in RL, but the trend I'm seeing worries me. I remember not so long ago there was a thread about the "outrageous" price for tokens, and I set my price at 200k each as it was the price the MAJORITY of people used. I have accepted offers to buy at a higher price through pms.... but that is rare.... and never will be repeated.

So why am I worried? Simply because auctioning tokens is not illegal according to the tos.... nor even morally wrong.... but it DOES raise the value of tokens artificially. I find it outrageous to see them sell for more than twice what I count them as in my auctions, not because it is wrong for people to sell them, but because it could lead to beginners in the world of creating paying more for their foundie pair's tokens that they could ever sell ten of the offspring for.

It saddens me to see this..... What do you all think?

-nods-

it kind of makes it difficult for others, such as myself, to create anything, change colours, or do anything related or using tokens because of this reason ( and a few others ).

Not a lot we can do, though. it's going to continue happening, prices becoming higher and higher than before.

But, also, people must realize that people have money now. From either selling their animals relentlessly to acquire that many, or else finding methods of acquiring it rapidly. Thus, people have more to burn, and others have more to earn.

I'm certainly glad you have a set price, easier to buy them off you when you don't get sporadic with prices and charge outrageous and unreasonable for them. So, kudos and thanks to you.

Sorry for rambling, maybe it's a side effect. I can't think straight..

I agree, I might buy tokens soon, I'm just trying to see how much money I want to spend. People now have I think in my opinion ripped off a lot of people by selling them tokens at outragious(sp) prices, I saw someone auctioning off tokens and the HB is 1mil per token and that is 20mil for all 20 tokens that the person had for auction.

It's rare now that I sell tokens....But back in the days when I was trying to "build my fortune" as it were ( before the creation bug bit me! Rolling Eyes ) I thought I was making a marvellous profit at 10k per token...My how times change... Shocked

I value tokens at around 200k when I am selling ( hardly ever ) buying ( very frequently ) or using as payment ( pretty darn often, now )...I find it unfair to count them much lower than that, considering they cost real money, but also unfair to set the bar too far above that...

My real beef with tokens is the exchange rate. I hear ( well, see lol ) the American players bemoaning the fact they have to do an extra hours work ( or some such ) to raise the funds....Spare a thought for the rest of the SBF nation. Just like the animals here, players are stretched across the globe, and the exchange rate is a pain in the proverbial.....

*has small rant* Just paid an extra $12 to get my tokens thanks to our dollar being a little down...Today was a GOOD day >.< It got to $26 at one stage, and idiot Jed was too desperate to wait...Serves me right Shocked

Sorry to hijack the thread with my own whinge about tokens....But just thought I'd share the reason I don't offer less than 200-300k per token to buy them, especially if I know the player has had the added cost of an exchange difference. I'm in no way condoning the insanely high prices...Because greed is a terrible thing. But I understand the reasons behind it in some cases...

yes Cowgirls i saw it too *nods*
1mill per token is absoutly too much.

People these days *shakes head*

I would rather pay 200k for 1 token than bid in an auction..
I think your good at saying "200k per token"

I have no way of buying tokens with real money (parents) but i would like to instead or wasting all my playcash for a single token...

Poor people falling into this trap.
It really makes me sad....

*munches* Yeah, i understand that people paid real money for them, but I mean, 1mil per token is going insanely(sp) high. I really think that token pricing is going out of hand becuase people are being too greedy these days, if I buy tokens and happen to have extra and someone wants to buy them the max price I'd charge them is 300k at the most per token, mabye even 250k per token.

What many don't realise is that raising the price of tokens ultimately raises the price of any animals they buy which are player made. The more it costs to buy the tokens to buy the animal, the more they have to make FROM the animal to break even.... It's a vicious circle.

My price for tokens is 200k per token. I rarely sell publicly though and those that message me here and there to see if I have any to sell often times get discounts, many a time they get them for free. (That's not a cue for everyone to pm me looking for tokens!)

It's been a long time since I auctioned off tokens, now I'd rather auction off 'creation of' items. I do the creating but the winner gets to choose what it is I will create. Or I do giveaways outside the creator's club. I've given away thousands upon thousands of tokens in my giveaways. Yes, they cost me real money and yes, I've spend a lot of that on orbis games but I get more joy out of giving other players things. Here tokens, vp and vhr dyes, foundies, upgrades. *shrugs* Tis the way I was raised.

I suppose then after posting what's above you can say I don't have a set price for my tokens and just put a limit of 200k on them.
