Help needed on persuading parents, urgently

I really want a new phone but my mum says "no you've got a perfectly decent one". At the moment i have a very scratched lg chocolate which still works quite well (looks at phone to make it break). Does anyone know a good way of persuading parents?, i will be paying most or all of it myself

is it a slidey fone or does it flip, sorry i cant remember what it looks like but you could say that the touch pad goes funny some times or the conections going to the screne go funny and the it doesn't work all the time propally (sorry about the spelling)

my sis had a flip fone and the conection broke.

im only 9 but the buttons of mine got stuck in so i got a new one (but yours doesn't have buttons)

could you get the power button stuck in?

lol, its a sliding phone. The slide is a bit wonky. I've also noticed that the phone i want has a much better camara (for taking pics and putting them on my mum's forum so that might help).

if you really want to break it you could

a) sit on it
b) drop it in the bassin full of water
c) put it in a plastic bag a tread/jump on it
d) drop it in your rabbits water bowl and say it fell out of your pocket
e) flush it down the toilet (after you take the memory card out and save numbers)
f) drop it infront of the car wheel then wait until your parents pull out of the drive, and again say it fell out of your pocket.

g) this is extreme but blow it up.

as i said destroying things is my best job.

Well i think I will try a bit more persuation first before I get onto the extreme destruction bit lol.

ok but be careful because if you do decide to do something extreme then your perents may link the destructivness to the pursuading then you would be found out. best to be destructive first.

Sorry if this offends you but you shouldn't really take drastic measures if it's not to bad. If it is bad (like you can't phone anyone or it stay's on contnuasly) then i think maybe you should contact Telstra and ask them about new models that you want to buy and won't break easily or you could see about it being fixed. If it was me (i don't have a phone and i'm 12) i'd be happy for what i've got even if it's broken. Most things i recive as presents go haywire (all four of my tamagotchi's had problems, my ipod stutters on song, my camera is a little bit slow and the family computer does'nt work on simple sites) and by this time i'm happy even if things go wrong. And if you don't know why i know so much about Telstra, my aunty works there. Hope that helps but i'm not a real genius on sulouctions (yes i know the word's wrong)

Hmm, here are some tips I find that really help:

1. Catch your parents in a good mood. (This is a MUST!)
2. Beforehand, think out some good pro's and con's to getting a new phone. Parents like to hear how "responsible" and "thoughtful" their child is.
3. Be very careful not to overwork it! All parents have instincive sensors, and can tell immediately when their kid is trying to sweet-talk them into something.
4. Since Christmas just passed, the "I want this for Christmas" excuse won't work, and they are probably sick of buying things for other people. Therefore, you may have to wait awhile, say the hypothetical "New Year's Party" that you may or may not be going to. The best time is when they are happy, but not paying too much attention, so they are likely to say "Uh-huh" without too much thought.
5. You can always "assist" your phone's demise. Nothing big, like actaully breaking it, but sort of "accidentally" scratching the surface whenever you open it. Or, get it really dirty. People tend to think that the worse something looks; the worse it is.
6. It also helps to have several small, but annoying things wrong with the phone. So, "my phone is scratched up" sounds much less convincing than "My phone is scratched up AND it doesn't open quite right AND the camera doesn't work well AND the buttons are starting to go." Observe your camera under a close eye, find anything that is possibly wrong with it, and remember it as a back-up plan when the parents pull out the old "Oh, nothing that bad is wrong with it.

Be happy with the phone you have because they can always downgrade it. *looks at old school cell* If the phone is working leave it alone and focus on something else you want. Be reasonable because maybe they already bought you something or just done have enough money even with you fronting some cash. If you will die if you dont get the new phone, i doubt this will happen, then try working something out with your parents like perhaps giving up your birthday gift.

Well I might not get it anymore I'm stuck between a new phone
(the U600 pink which I have wanted for 4months) or a nintendo wii (which means a lot more saving). I am going to sell some old nintendo ds and gameboy advance games on Ebay so they don't have to pay anything.

The phone I want also has a really good camera for taking pics of my art and rabbits lol.

I've found my my phone I have at the moment is wobbly, there are scratches everywhere(even the silver is peeling off) and sometimes because its touch pad it rings people

Don't get it too dirty or too scratched up and DEFINITELY don't break it - they may think you too irresponsible to be worth something more expensive. Remember, a bad phone isn't the end of the world. Wanting something for a long time is not the same as needing it. List out the pros and cons of getting the phone and say them out loud to yourself. Then, consider whether or not the phone is really worth all this trouble since you already have one.
I'd say go for the Wii. Yes, it's more expensive, but you already have a phone. When it dies of its own accord, or gets much closer to it, then talk to your parents about a new one. If you're REALLY dying to have this phone and using all that time convincing your parents is REALLY worth it, then wait a few more months until they've gotten over Christmas/holiday spending.
