Random attempt at poetry

[Queso]

Valley Oak

The golden grass ripples all around your hanging branches
Brushing gently against your leafy fingers. Leaves
That you dropped long go crunch beneath my bare feet, prickling
My soles. I rest in your shade, leaning up against your strong trunk.
You protect me from the outside world.

The golden grass rustles gently, filling
The air with their sweet aroma. A single leaf falls to the ground, drifting
Lazily on down. The air within you sanctuary is still, sheltered
From the hot breeze. A single silkworm is suspended in mid air
Sheltered from hungry birds by your leaf-roof.

Your bark fells pleasantly rough beneath my hands as I climb
Your thick branches. As I leisurely push upward
You support me; I trust you will not let me fall. Your ancient branches
Do not bend; they are still strong after all your years. As I ascend, dappled
Sunlight begins to play across my hair, reassuring me.

I curl up in your uppermost branches, secure
Against your strong trunk. You cradle me in your branches,
Gently rocking me. I watch as your leafy branches dance
Gracefully in the breeze, rejoicing in the sunlight. Patches of sun
Kiss my cheeks as you hold me in your arms.

You are my shelter from the world.
