So I was at the pet shop today that I work at and a new shipment of feeder rats came in. They were so darn cute that I just had to play with them. A lot of them were really mean and bit, they're just weaned. But there was one who just curled up in my hand and started licking my fingers. So I checked the sex and it was a little girl so I decided to bring her home.
She is so cute and very affectionate. I will post pictures tomorrow when I get batterries for my camera.

Aw! I've been wanting a rodent pet for a while now... But 4 dogs and 3 cats don't exactly make for a good rodent-type of environment
Have you chosen a name for her? |

no, I can't decide what to name her. I could really use some help with that. She is mostly white with black patches on her face. |

How about... Patches?
XD
I'm not very good with names.
I have a guinea pig named Oero, and she's got a black head with a white blaze, a white belly, and a black rump. Haha.
Very lucky though!
Rats sound très cool. And very cute and soft and cuddly and... *sigh*.
My Guinea Pig just sits there are squeeks for more carrots, lmao. |

Hmmm- came in as a feeder rat, and now has a home as a beloved pet. How about "Lucky" ? Very cute little girl. |

I do have another female rat. However I am trying to slowly get them to know each other. Lucy, my first rat, is about 4 months old and she is a lot bigger than the new baby. I have them both in cages next to each other and I have been socializing them in a neutral place for now until the baby gets big enough that she could defend herself. I then plan to buy a martin cage or a large ferret cage and putting them in at the same time so there are no territorial issues.
Until then I am going to give them both lots of out of cage time and time together with supervision. |

New rats should really be quarantined. Another room at the least, other home if possible. And one should be careful about handling the new rat before your established resident. |

When I got a new rat friend for my CoCoaMuffin after her other friend died, I tried to get one of the bigger rats at the pet store, that were more her size, CoCoaMuffin was a little territorial at first(this was after the new rat had been quarentined) but now they hate to separate! Good luck with her, any decided names yet? I named my new rattie, Petal. |

well I decided to appease my roommate and call the baby girl "Anya".....but only in front of my roommate
I was thinking about Masquerade, which Odinsdottir suggested because of the markings...but that seems to long for me to remember, so I have been calling her Bandit cause of the mask on her eyes...
So I guess her "official" name is Bandit Anya |
