Well, I didn't mean to offend. I understand all those points, but then I've been in here for a year now. I'm still learning things. Other players that are newer still don't understand these things, perhaps. |

I've not been here very long, but I understand respect. And you nailed it on the head Kholran.... it IS about respect. We make our animals to have value to those who play as well as to ourselves, but not for them to breed 10 and sell those whole to make them COMMON when the buyers breed 10 to sell.
The truth is many players here are young enough never to have learned to respect the rights of others within the framework of a game. We need to educate and guide, and lead by example. It astonishes me that the over goose I made some time ago still has less than 40 specimens! Anyone who knows me knows I tend to ask permission.... rofl

Someone count how many Friesians are in game? They're one of my creations. I think I recieved tokens from 1 (maybe 2) pair of foundies, the rest are bred. No one even realizes they're not a game made variation anymore. Someone posts looking for 'insert a dozen or more breeds of horse' and half a dozen people throw links or offers on the table for bred foals. You don't even see Friesians on those lists anymore because most people have them or they're not that hard to obtain. Paso Finos and Lusitanos too. It's why I now only make AE horse breeds unless someone wins an Endangered creation auction I hold. The first person that bought the Friesian bred them immediately and bred them repeatedly as soon as a foal was born, I had to click Next 12 on the marketplace list a short time later to see all the ones there were, and it got worse quickly. At the time I hadn't even bred my original pair once.
Which leads me back to not liking the breed A to B and get A again thing and making it so super easy to obtain playermade creations. But that's a whole 'nother rant.. |

Which I'm as guilty of in the past as anyone else....... Truth is I wanted the variation and didn't have the sense to look up whose it was to ASK..... and new people rarely have anything to trade with or money to spend anyway.
I look back and see where what I did was not the responsible thing to do... but you taught me to think more Jinnx, as did Kat and Silver, Vitani and JTs_Mom.
Now I understand the drive to make AEs.... and for me it is about making sure the numbers don't get out of hand. Earning money from them is way down on my list of priorities.
I just love making new variations.... I guess I'm a SBF creative addict....

For every one I usually sell I've given several to friends. And I've done give aways where I hand out sterile AEs so it's not like I don't allow others to have even those variations I deem special enough to spend 2000 or more tokens on. |

Hmm, I can't say I have a lot of problems with this, but I do know the feeling of...helplessness when it comes to selling an animal. Like, I've sold a few wolf pups (kinda dumb of me ><) and they sold fairly well. I see the new owner of the unsterile pup breeding and breeding, then selling for twice as much as I sold the original. It saddens me that people can't be responsible, but...I guess, I should of taken the proper precautions to ensure that the wolf wasn't bred. I should of sterilized.
I hadn't even realized that you created the Friesian or several other variations until you posted your massive ( =P )list. I try to not overbreed my variations, and I have cut down a LOT in the last couple months. I've come to understand the value in animals that are hard to get, and even though you don't really gain that much from having these animals, I just love being able to think that I'm now responsible and trustworthy enough to have the opportunity to acquire such great animals.
And, the only thing with making all your variations AE is, that's a lot of tokens. I know at the moment I keep staring at those 2,000 tokens I have now and frown because there are so MANY things I want to create, and well, those tokens aren't going to just come back as soon as I run out. Sadly! (oh, if money only grew on trees!)
And, Odins, how have I taught you anything? -tilts head- |

I do only sell sterile unless it's to a person on my trusted list. I never auction off a whole baby just anyone can buy. But you wont see me selling or auctioning off my endangered or lower variations, and those that have gotten them from me I don't usually charge, they're gifts.
My original pair of Friesians are still unbred because there are so many in game.
I get nothing from the sale of the variations beyond the pair purchased with tokens by another player usually..they're so easy to breed if you know what you're doing, no one bothers to buy more token animals because they're all over the place and decently easy to obtain. It should be harder for something you spent a decent amount more real money to create to be all over the game. |
