OK, so this didn't belong in the Chicken Chatter, but it isn't exactly a question of how to play the game either. So you can scold me if you want. *cowers.* My question is: why does no one here like pic manips? Most people seem to at least prefer the hand-drawns over the manips, and some people won't take manips at all. This is a very new concept to me, when I left it didn't seem like people cared much either way. And I'm not mad or saying that manips are better or anything, I'm purely curious. What gives? |

I suppose it has a lot to do with copyright protection. You can't just take a photo off of google and use it however you want. Unless the photos come specifically from stock sites, or you took them yourself, you cannot use them in manips without the express permission of the photographer. A lot of people who buy art don't want to take the risk of being sued for using the photo, so they shy away from manips. If an artist draws an image specifically for your animal, there is no copyright infringement. Though hand-drawn art can no doubt also be stolen, most artists know each other and can recognize art they've seen before. |
